Sarajevo, 14th November, 2017, the Association International Forum of Solidarity - EMMAUS (IFS-EMMAUS) held a public promotion and presentation of activities within the project "Development of Child Friendly Guidelines for the Prevention of Violence Against Children in Bosnia and Herzegovina ", supported by UNICEF and the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The mentioned activities are realized within the long-term program activities of the IFS-EMMAUS, on the protection of children and young people from all forms of abuse and exploitation.

In order to strengthen the activities of preventing violence against children and to encourage children and young people, parents, professionals and the general public to contribute to the identification and reporting of cases of violence against children, IFS-EMMAUS, in cooperation with recognized experts from this field, on this occasion presented the following:

-         "Guidelines for Recognition and Prevention of Violence Against Children in the Digital Environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina" intended for professionals working with children;

-         Cartoon/story book "All you need to know about violence!" intended for children aged 6-11 years;

-         Online application "Be the Cyber Detective!" for use on social networks and online platform www.sigurnodijete.ba  for children aged 12+.

Violence against children, exploitation and abuse, and various forms of harassment of children and young people by inappropriate content through the Internet and mobile telephony unfortunately have become our daily routine. All this happens here and now, and the victim can be anybody. In order to make professionals working with children more effective in identifying, reporting and combating violence against children, especially violence in the digital environment, which unfortunately is increasingly present in BiH, Guidelines for Professionals defining new forms of violence such as grooming, cyberbullying, sexting and sextortion.

During the promotion, the need for preventive action and more intensive education and raising awareness among children and young people about the various forms of violence they may be exposed to and who report the violence are especially emphasized during the promotion. Therefore, for children and young people, a picture book and online applications are specifically adapted to these target groups, which handle various forms of violence - neglect of the child, physical, emotional, sexual, peer and violence in the digital environment, and the importance of reporting violence and the person/ institution who need to report violence.

Publication, public promotion and distribution of promoted content, in the wider public and professional community, contribute to the strengthening of the existing child protection system in BiH, in order to adequately respond to all known forms of violence, exploitation and neglect of children.
