The very first measurement have done by the governments during COVID-19 outbreak is to shift from on-site education to online and sending the pupils home as soon as possible, however not every education sector can shift to it that easily. Following organizations such as special schools, children's homes and university halls of residence need constant attention, on-site inspection and support the children who are in need the most.

So the following guidelines have been provided for them by the Department of Education (DfE):

  • maintain safe staff ratios to assist pupils at the school
  • prioritize towards the most vulnerable pupils and students, particularly those in the residential provision, where settings cannot remain open safely
  • work with local authorities to deploy staff from mainstream schools or special educational settings
  • liaise with parents over the safest location for the self-isolation: at home or school, however, DfE states it’s better to stay at settings, where pupils can get constant care and support
  • Children classed as high-risk (with chronic illness) may return home for holiday periods and return to settings when in need
  • Pupils who went home showing symptoms of coronavirus stay at home and be in contact with Public Health England guidance, those living with the person should self-isolate for 14 days

Therefore, it is very important for schools, local authorities and families to be in contact in order to handle the situation efficiently during the exposure to the Covid-19.
