There are still 884 refugee children under the age of 13, and 2,300 young people aged 14-17 who are missing in Germany reports Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ) citing Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). According to them this number is higher now than in the summer of 2016 when the ‘refugee crisis’ was at its peak.

"Little is known about the situation of the missing young refugees," said Holger Hofmann, the federal managing director of the fund to the NOZ. Hofmann added there is a big danger of criminal networks that get in touch with minor refugees and pressure them to leave care facilities, among which UAM are the most vulnerable.
