According to a statement from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, the 2018/2019 academic year saw a significant rise in the number of children enrolled in nursery schools, and likewise, 19 new nursery school begain operations in the last year. Yet, the number of nursery school teachers has decreased.
Based on HVG’s analysis of job vacancies advertised on the Hungarian Public-Sector Jobs Portal, Hungary lacks more than 800 nursery school teachers. Some institutions have as many as five open positions. Most vacancies appear in Budapest, while counties such as Tolna, Csongrád and Békés are the most well equipped when it comes to nursery-school staff.
