Whether we are talking about child work, labour or slavery, we cover an issue that urgently needs a solution. There are 218 million children working worldwide, 152 million of whom are required to do unacceptable child labour under horrible conditions. Forcing children to work endangers their education, development and well-being.
Child slavery is even worse. Based on the 2017 estimates, around 10 million children suffer from child slavery — a total exploitation of children. Boys usually work in agriculture, fisheries or mining, but are also involved in criminal activities and forced begging. Girls face the threat of trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Unfortunately, these numbers are not decreasing. Perhaps one reason for its increased pervasiveness is the lack of effective and cooperative work of big organizations. Therefore, there is a need for collaboration against child trafficking and poverty on both national and international levels.
