The Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection – KOMF, in partnership with SOS Fshatrat e Fëmijëve Kosovë, recently held a workshop to draft the Advocacy Strategy 2019–2021 for the decentralization of social and family services in Kosovo.

The workshop was a continuation of the first needs assessment for advocacy—held with members of the coalition, partners and other stakeholders—and is especially valuable in ending the process of decentralization of social services in Kosovo.

Workshop participants included: HANDIKOS, ASTRA, Organizata Akti, Terre des hommes, POLIS, OPFAKKOS “Prindi & Fëmiu”, Organizata për fëmijët pa kujdes prindëror – OFAP, SOS Fshatrat e Fëmijëve Kosovë, Childproof/CIPOF, AUTIZMI, Labirinth, Rrjeti i Edukatorëve Bashkëmoshatarë (PEN), përfaqësues nga Lidhja e Qendrave për Punë Sociale të Kosovës, and përfaqësues nga Asosacioni i Komunave të Kosovës dhe përfaqësues nga Ministria e Punës dhe Mirëqenies Sociale.

The workshop was organized in frame of the project, ‘Joint Action for Decentralization’, a project funded by the European Union and managed by the EU Office in Kosovo, implemented by the  Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection in Kosovo – KOMF, in partnership with SOS Fshatrat e Fëmijëve Kosovë, Organizata për fëmijët pa kujdes prindëror – OFAP and KMOP.  The project aims to contribute toward the completion of social services decentralisation process in Kosovo.

The main objectives of the project are to:

  • Strengthen and increase capacities and active role of Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection – KOMF towards the social services decentralisation process;
  • Advocate toward decentralisation of social services through contribution for the improvement of the related legal framework, monitoring of current legislation and mobilisation of public institutions;
  • Raise awareness among the wide public through media communication on social services decentralisation.
