The Dutch government reached an agreement to review the applications of children who were rejected for a permit in the Netherlands and to provide more resources to the immigration office to process the cases faster. The policy known as ‘children`s pardon’ was an attempt to address the fact there are children in the Netherlands who applied for asylum and due to the fact this process lasted for years, remained in the country long enough to start a new life there. The agreement government reached is predicted to affect around 700 children whose applications were rejected, but many of whom are expected to be found eligible to get a permit.
