A regional conference, ‘Optimal Nutrition of Infants and Young Children in Order to Prevent Inadequate Nutrition in Europe and Central Asia’, was held in Belgrade, 1–5 July.

Experts from UNICEF Europe & Central Asia, WHO Regional Office for Europe, and the government, discussed best practices in the field of nutrition with the aim of improving the health of all citizens in the region.

The ‘Parent’ association, long-time promoters of breastfeeding, hosted a delegation of conference participants at their breastfeeding counselling centre on 2 July. Participants had the opportunity to learn from and exchange experiences with counsellors and mothers.
