'London Youth' has launched an innovative leadership programme for youth practitioners who support young people suffering from violence in London.

London Youth, Leap Confronting Conflict and Clore Social Leadership have joined together to implement the programme with the help of London Violence Reduction Unit, which will invest a total of £550,000 in the program.

One hundred active supporters will join the year-long development program from September 2020. Participants will help young Londoners overcome mental health issues, as well as build a brighter future following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Selected youth practitioners will undergo a 26-day professional training. They will be taught change management, mental health first aid, trauma-informed practice, business planning and contextual and transitional safeguarding. The London Youth network’s youth sector leader volunteers will also provide mentoring and coaching for the participants, who, upon completion of the program, will be able to implement change in their community using an Innovation Fund.

London Youth is a network of more than 550 communities that support community youth organisations by providing capacity-building support. Furthermore, it organizes sports and employment programmes for young people who are at risk of violence across London.
