Barns behov i centrum (BBIC) (Children’s needs in focus ) is a comprehensive development work based on an English system that has been run as a project by the National Board of Health and Welfare (NBHW).The project is a response to the criticism that is repeatedly directed at child welfare from both researchers and supervisory authorities. The BBIC takes as its starting point the UN Child Convention and the Social Services Act. The guiding vision of the BBIC is to ensure that the children who are subject to intervention by the social services have the same life opportunities as other children in society.

The objective, purpose and operative tasks of the BBIC project
The overarching objective of the project was to develop a national uniform system within child welfare that could be offered to local authorities throughout the country. The reason for this is that the handling and documentation of child welfare cases vary considerably throughout the country and more uniformity is important when it comes to working with children and young people in need of protection and support.
