The present guidelines on justice for child victims and witnesses of crime set forth good practice based on the consensus of contemporary knowledge and relevant international and regional norms, standards and principles. The guidelines should also be applied to processes in informal and customary systems of justice such as restorative justice and in non-criminal fields of law including, but not limited to, custody, divorce, adoption, child protection, mental health, citizenship, immigration and refugee law.
