This technical sheet provides guidance on the implementation of recreative activities within the context of any type of child protection project, whether an emergency or longer-term development project. In an emergency situation one of the first things to disappear from a child’s life is the
sufficient time and space in which to play. Recreational activities, if carried out in a safe and structured environment, can help children to recover, to continue to develop and to socialise with others, thus ensuring their protection. This short manual provides a summary undertanding of the benefits of recreational play for children, specific tips for application, and a list of the requirements for implementing this program.
