A study conducted in five European countries

Social and Emotional Education and Development (SEED) is a European project implemented in five countries: Croatia, Hungary, Latvia, Norway and the Netherlands. As part of the SEED project a research was conducted in the 5 countries, with an aim to explore room for improvement in the area of early childhood education and care practice and underscore the fact social and emotional wellbeing of children is a key for learning and development. As a result, providing support and development opportunities for practitioners working with children is essential.

The full research and a summary are now available in English, while summaries are also available Croatian, Dutch, Hungarian, Latvian and Norwegian here.

Some of the key conclusions from this study are:

  • Practitioners can have a strong impact on the wellbeing and development of children they work with
  • However, there is a big need for more professional development opportunities for those professionals, especially in the areas of working with families and relationship building, as well as diversity management
