Professor Philip Alston, United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights issued a statement after the visit to UK in November 2018. The statement underlines that despite being the fifth world’s economy, many people in UK still live in poverty and the most prominent charities and other bodies working in the field are warning the situation is getting worse as the time passes. Prof. Philip Alston also addressed the impact of Brexit and the impact it could have on those in the greatest need for support.
