Elisa Buccolini, Communication Coordinator at Terre des Hommes (TDH), together with Vincent Tournecuillert, Destination Unknown Campaign Coordinator, will present the Guidance for Journalists developed in the framework of the Children Win campaign.
As part of the campaign, a documentary filmmaker and an investigative journalist were asked to capture both positive and negative views and opinions of children linked to mega sporting events, We have produced this guidance for journalists to ensure they are doing all they can to keep children safe.
Terre des Hommes encourages journalists, filmmakers and photographers – whether professionals or amateurs – to engage with children to give them a voice. However, this work with children by all means needs to be done in a safe way.
This guidance helps journalists to interview and record children’s opinions in a safe and professional way, while adhering to Keeping Children Safe’s child safeguarding standards”. During the webinar they will share their best practices in implementing standards within Terre des Hommes projects.
Learning points from the webinar include:
Intervention of media in field projects with a strong component of child protection: what are the difference levels of risks?
Guide for journalists: the actions that need to be taken to ensure that safeguarding is included in media activities
How to develop critical analysis of project teams about media coverage on sensitive child protection issues.
Terre des Hommes’ (TDH) mission is to work for the rights of the child and for equitable development, without racial, religious, political, cultural or gender-based discrimination. To this end, TDH supports and implements development and humanitarian aid projects designed to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged children, and of their families and communities.
