About the webinar:

CPC Learning Network and LINEA are organizing the second joint webinar "Social network analysis as an innovative tool for identifying reference groups.

In this webinar, Dr. Holly Shakya, Assistant Professor of Global Public Health at the University of California San Diego, will define social network analysis, using examples of how it can be used for identifying reference groups. The webinar will also provide a short introduction to social norms theory as well as its relevance in modern health, behavioral research, and development work.

Dr. Shakya's expertise is in the intersection between social norms theory and social network analysis with an additional focus on norms measurement. She works on projects on a wide range of topics, including the determinants of adolescent fertility in Honduras; norms and network impacts on adolescent marriage; fertility and contraceptive use in Niger; a network study on female genital cutting in Senegal; and a qualitative norms and networks study on child marriage in Cameroon.
